Jude’s practice reflects her interest in inscription, mark making and excavation. She will be displaying paintings and large-scale sea drawings based on a residency in Bressay Lighthouse, Shetland.
Jude studied drawing, painting and contemporary practice at Leith School of Art. She has exhibited her work at a range of venues including: the RSA open 2016, and group shows at St Marks Portobello, St Margaret's house and Patriothall. In the Autumn of 2016 Shetland Amenity Trust appointed her as artist in residence at Bressay Lighthouse, Shetland where she focussed in exploring the boundaries between land and sea.
She is a mixed media artist whose practice incorporates sculptural form as well as two dimensional pieces. Her abstract landscapes and seascapes are based on detailed observation and drawings. Her paintings are multi layered with a focus on both the visible and invisible. Reflecting her interest in materiality her work on paper, canvas and board uses a wide range of traditional and non traditional materials including oil paint, graphite, gesso, size, pigments and varnish.
