Teresa Gordon

138 Portobello High Street

An exhibition of painting, installation and prints looking at the philosophy of impermanence, searching for a visual representation that adequately describes the transitory nature of our lives and the environment we encounter. Using sunrises and sunsets as a metaphor for this, Teresa explores the impermanence and fragility of life.

Over the last year I have been more and more aware of the fragility of the world and my place in it. Especially poignant is the changing effects of land, sea and skyscape. These effects are at times awe inspiringly beautiful. However, trying to record this makes me aware that there is an underlying aspect of neglect due to our carelessness. My recent work records this.

Teresa currently works from her studio at St Margaret’s House, 151 London Road Edinburgh. She returned to the visual arts after 20 years in education, having graduated in 1994 (BA Hons Fine Art, Glasgow School of Art) & MPhil2003 (GSA & Glasgow University) .
