Rust Kammer Robin Baillie is an artist whose work is inspired by his love of historical imagery. Robin’s visual sources are drawn from junk shop portraits, caricatures, silhouettes, frontispieces, pub signs, decorative woodwork and radical pamphlets. His work combines the high and the low, and the mix techniques of ‘dub’, to make portraits, genre scenes and DIY history painting. Skip materials are used as the ground for historical explorations which attempt to deconstruct the iconic imagery of the personalities and events that stand for history.
