Textile artworks using a variety of processes and materials to investigate the plant world, from woodland scenes and flowers growing in fields to patterns found in petals, plant cells or tree bark.
Alison uses a wide range of vintage, re-cycled and new materials including fabrics, threads, wools, fibres, string, wire and other collected treasures in the creation of her work.
Alison is a life-long stitcher. Largely self-taught, she experiments with new techniques gleaned from workshops and short courses to enrich her work.
For several years she made and sold bags and other items, taking commissions for unique pieces of work. This included having a long-term space at Whynot? in North Berwick. Combining pattern, colours and textures was a delight but she found constructing the items restrictive and uninspiring. Recognizing that her true passion lay more in textile art than crafts, she began exploring and developing new ideas.
Having recently produced some pieces for commissions, she is ready to share her work with a wider audience.
