Using the furthermost part of Sea field beach, Juliana Capes will experiment with the idea of a beach and the sea and their edges. New sculptural experiments with time and tide. Featuring collaborations with artist Alice Betts.
Juliana Capes is a visual artist who lives and works in Portobello. Her art installations investigate space and participation in simple and ingenious ways, with environments, materials and interactions inspiring and contributing to meaning.
She has exhibited across the UK and internationally, her recent projects have included acclaimed installations at Deptford X Festival, Edinburgh Art Festival, National Galleries of Scotland and Cupar Arts Festival.
Concurrently she has a socially engaged practise working on arts and education projects with many different organisations including Edinburgh Artlink, National Galleries of Scotland, Fruitmarket Gallery amongst many others. An adept and inspiring teacher and communicator she works with communities to facilitate artistic processes. She has been the lead artist on the National Gallery of Scotland’s Visual Impairment programme for the past decade, and is considered one of the countries foremost Visual Describers.
